Las Vegas review: New York-New York Hotel & Casino - where the Big Apple meets Big Bets

Travel News Blitz Founder Simon Wilkes got married in Las Vegas in 2000 - and is heading back to Sin City in 2025 for his 50th birthday, having also been for his 30th and 40th birthdays.

He has stayed at the MGM Grand, Luxor, Stratosphere, Hilton and Cosmopolitan, while visiting pretty much every major hotel on his various visits there.

The New York-New York Hotel & Casino has stood the test of time and is a visually iconic venue on the famous strip.

Here, Travel News Blitz gives a detailed overview of the awe-inspiring hotel and amenities.

Big Apple in the desert

If you've ever thought, "You know what would be cool? Smashing together the skyline of New York City with a giant casino in the middle of the desert," then congratulations - you and the designers of the New York-New York Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas have something in common.

What’s the deal?

This place is a fever dream of NYC crammed into a single Las Vegas resort.

You’ve got replicas of the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, and Brooklyn Bridge, but instead of dodging pigeons and overpriced hot dogs, you’re surrounded by slot machines and cocktail waitresses.

It’s the best of both worlds - New York City’s aesthetic, minus the subway delays.

Top attractions

The Big Apple Coaster: Ever wanted to fly over Manhattan in a speeding taxi? This roller coaster is as close as you’ll get.

It loops and drops around the hotel at speeds that will make you rethink that extra margarita.

Casino: An 84,000-square-foot playground for gamblers who want to test their luck on slots, blackjack, and poker, all while pretending they’re in a scene from ‘The Sopranos’.

Mad Apple by Cirque du Soleil: Imagine New York’s wildest nightlife - comedians, acrobats, magicians, and musicians - thrown into a blender and served with a side of high-energy insanity.

Where to eat

Gallagher’s Steakhouse: A classic NYC-style steakhouse where the steaks are thick, and the waiters know their meat better than a Wall Street trader knows stocks.

Nine Fine Irishmen: A pub so authentically Irish that even the Guinness flows with an Irish accent.

Shake Shack: Because sometimes you just need a burger, fries, and a milkshake to soak up those questionable gambling decisions.

Bars & nightlife

The Bar at Times Square: Dueling pianos, loud singing, and a crowd that starts the night classy and ends it dancing on tables.

Coyote Ugly Saloon: Exactly like the movie, except with more spilled drinks and fewer Hollywood edits.

Pool & spa

If you need to recover from a long night of “just one more drink”, the pool area is the perfect place to lounge and pretend you didn’t max out your credit card at the blackjack table.

Rooms & pricing

The hotel has over 2,000 rooms and suites, with decor that nods to New York’s classic aesthetic.

Prices are reasonable by Vegas standards, meaning you might still have enough money left to buy a hot dog on the Strip.

Final verdict

New York-New York is for those who love big energy, big thrills, and big slices of pizza (yes, there’s a place for that too).

It’s not for those looking for a quiet, luxurious escape - unless your idea of relaxation includes the distant screams of rollercoaster riders and the cha-ching of a jackpot win.

So if you want a taste of New York without the need for an overpriced Broadway ticket, this is your place.
